HOLY SH*T: Megaupload Will Rise Again?

Kim Dotcom has spent the majority of 2012 fighting legal woes following the raid on his mansion in the first half of the year, but it seems now the founder of MegaUpload has his eyes set on a comeback.

Taking to Twitter in the early hours of Monday, Dotcom tweeted:

“It’s coming. This year. Promise. Bigger. Better. Faster. 100% Safe & Unstoppable.”

Anyone following Dotcom’s trouble with the law over the last year may find the above statement hard to believe, but I wouldn’t put it past Kim to actualize these promises sooner than not. The man did build one of the largest (not to mention easiest-to-use) file sharing services of all time, after all.

Not everyone is sold on the return of MegaUpload yet. The Next Web published an article based on the above tweet before UTG had a chance to cover things that suggested Dotcom could be referring to MegaBox – a project teased since 2011 – but shortly after publication Dotcom retweeted it—then, two hours later, tweeted “Yes… Megabox is also coming this year ;-)” implying that his earlier tweet was referring to a different site (likely MegaUpload).

Will MegaUpload return to the web? Only time will tell. For more information on this still developing story, visit The Daily Dot for a great summary of all Dotcom’s recent activity.
