Green Day Announce London Date This Week; Reading & Leeds Rumours Abound

Following feverish speculation online, Green Day have announced that they will indeed be UK-bound this week for a show at London’s Shepherds Bush Empire on Thursday, August 23. The announcement has intensified rumours that the band are planning to put in a surprise appearance at this weekend’s Reading & Leeds festival. Speculation had been mounting that the Californian trio were planning to visit the UK after frontman Billie Joe Armstrong posted a photo on his Instagram account with the caption, “Hello England! What rhymes with shredding??!!” two days ago. It is also in keeping with a viral photo of what appears to be legitimate band merchandise, marking “London, Reading (UK)” as one of the stops on their current tour.

The London show was confirmed this morning and tickets will go on sale from 12pm on August 21. Fan club members can avail of an exclusive pre-sale on www.idiotclub.com as of 9am tomorrow morning.
