The Foo Fighters To Call It A Day?

Last night before playing, Foo Fighters front man Dave Grohl said “Without making a big deal out of it, we don’t have any shows after this. This is it, man. We don’t have any after this. This is the show where we come out and we play as many songs as we can in a short period of time. And honestly, I don’t know when we’re gonna do it again, and this is the perfect place to do it.

This isn’t the first time the band has gone on hiatus, however. The band did from 2009-2011 as Dave was busy with Them Crooked Vultures, and once nearly broke up when he was busy with Queens of the Stone Age. They’ve also taken short breaks when bassist Nate Mendel was busy reuniting with Sunny Day Real Estate. You can watch these excursions first hand in their documentary, Back and Forth.

Them Crooked Vultures, a supergroup featuring Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age and John Paul Jones from Led Zeppelin, has said to have been anxiously working on a second album. Perhaps this is just a break from touring… but perhaps the Foo Fighters are over as we know it. At the very least, this is a long indefinite hiatus for the rock band. Either way, we’ll miss the Foos, and keep an eye out for what Dave, Taylor Hawkins and company have in store.

I really hope this is just a hiatus and not their end. Unless he rejoins Queens of the Stone Age or does Them Crooked Vultures full time, in which case I really hope Foo Fighters is over.

It will be interesting to see what Dave does with his career now. Whether it involves the Foo Fighters or not I am sure it will be good.

I like how the title of the post indicates a full break up and the body tells you that it’s just a hiatus. Gotta get dat click through.

If I leave my job and say “Man, I don’t know when or if I’ll be back” then I quit my job. No one says “Oh, he’s on a hiatus”.
