Justin Vernon of Bon Iver Designs Guitar Made From Whiskey Barrels, Puts It Up For Auction

Justin Vernon of Bon Iver has designed a guitar made from the wood of Bushmill’s Irish Whiskey barrels.

This unique guitar, called “The 1608”, was built by Gordy Bischoff, a luthier from Vernon’s home town of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. The guitar is up for auction on eBay to help benefit Eau Claire’s Confluence Project, which is an effort to build a community arts center in the town.

“The goal is to put art back on the map in Eau Claire. Far too many artists from this area have had to leave because what we want to do with our lives just isn’t possible here. That’s what the Confluence Project is: to build a center that can be a nucleus for art here in Eau Claire,” Vernon said in a press release.

Donations for the cause will also be accepted here. To learn more about the project as well as the building of “The 1608” watch the video below.
