ALBUM STREAM/DOWNLOAD: Paint Branch (ex-Q And Not U) – ‘I Wanna Live’

Paint Branch

Q And Not U are perhaps my favorite Dischord Records band that never had Ian MacKaye in them and one of my favorite post-hardcore bands. They were composed of amazing musicians in John Davis, Harris Klahr, Christopher Richards, and Matt Borlik, with Matt leaving the band before they broke up in 2005. Now, two members have formed a new band; John  Davis and Chris Richards are Paint Branch. Out of nowhere, their album was posted to Bandcamp, with it also being available as a name-your-own-price download. I’ll be downloading it for sure.

Q And Not U are best remembered for intense poly rhythms mixed with clever songwriting. Everyone I know who was ever into them misses (and craves) their musicianship. Maybe Paint Branch can help fill that void (and if not, maybe Q And Not U will get the tenth anniversary reunion itch soon). Listen to or download their debut album, I Wanna Live, after the break.

I finished school with a music theory degree. Before I finished school, I was a janitor. You really should apologize to all the janitors you've ever had. You hurt them. Seriously. You did.

But, now that we've cleared that up and you called your high school janitor, know that I quit being a janitor to pursue writing about music. So here I am, and here you are, and hey how are you?
