REST IN PEACE: Divinyls Vocalist Chrissy Amphlett (1959-2013)

Sad news this morning as UTG has just learned pop music icon Chrissy Amphlett has passed away at the age of 53.

Amphlett, who is probably most well known for her work on the hit single “I Touch Myself” with The Divinyls, is survived by her loving husband. In the wake of her death he released a statement explaining, “Amphlett succumbed to the effects of breast cancer and multiple sclerosis.”

Fans first learned of Amphlett’s struggles with multiple sclerosis when she went public with the disease in 2007. News of her battle with breast cancer followed in 2010.

The Divinyls released six albums during their time together, but none topped their 1991 success with “I Touch Myself.” Join UTG in remembering Chrissy Amphlett by clicking below to view the video for the song one more time.
