Kanye West and Vampire Weekend Set To Perform On SNL

Saturday Night Live has always been known for featuring premier musical guests, and next month will be no different.

With a new album on the horizon, Vampire Weekend is scheduled to perform May 11 on SNL hosted by former cast member, Kristen Wiig. If that wasn’t enough, Kanye West will also be returning to the SNL stage on May 18 accompanied by guest host, Ben Affleck. This marks the fifth time West will be taking the SNL stage, and the second time for Vampire Weekend.

As of late, SNL has featured a slew of indie artists ranging from Sleigh Bells to Lana Del Rey. Whether you can name a current SNL cast member or not, one can’t deny the sketch show’s ability to deliver quality performances. They almost always leave the music industry buzzing the following week, giving us either something to rave about or complain about. With all of the Kanye West and Daft Punk collaboration news surfacing lately, and being as West is not currently promoting any projects, it’s expected that Kanye West will at the least debut a new song.

You can relive Kanye West’s unique SNL performance of his song, “POWER,” and the lyric video of Vampire Weekend’s new single, “Diane Young,” below.

Vampire Weekend’s new album, Modern Vampires of the City, is due out May 14 on XL Recordings.

It was great seeing Vampire Weekend on SNL with Kristen Wiig. I enjoyed the performances and also look forward to Kanye West’s performance next week. I was on my way home from work at DISH when Vampire Weekend performed but I’m glad I didn’t miss it. I watched on my iPhone with the DISH Anywhere app, during the train ride. Because of this I never have to be at home to enjoy live and recorded shows.
