WATCH: James Blake Performs “Retrograde” Live in Studio

James Blake

James Blake recently stopped by the KCRW studios in Santa Monica, California to perform a few songs for a group of lucky individuals. If you live in the area and didn’t make the guest list, don’t sweat it. KRCW and NPR was nice enough to record Blake’s appearance, and deliver us a live version of his song, “Retrograde,” from the new album, Overgrown.

The live performance proves that James Blake is more than capable of producing the same quality music that he does on his recordings in a live setting. Many times artists who experiment in the studio are unable to replicate the same product without relying heavily on sequencers or computers. While there still appears to be some sort of backing track, a majority of the instrumentation is actually performed by Blake and his fellow musicians. This live performance of “Retrograde” only further clarifies the talent that James Blake possesses.

You can check out the live performance of James Blake’s song, “Retrograde,” via KCRW below.

The new album, Overgrown, is available now on Polydor and Universal Republic Records.
