We recently reported that Pearl Jam‘s new album was “almost finished” (words straight from the horse’s mouth). Another website, AllAccess.com, said a new Pearl Jam song, “Mind Your Manners”, would be live on July 16, but it was quickly retracted. Knowing the way the internet works, we should keep our eyes peeled in the middle of July for the single to come out.
We know Pearl Jam won’t tour in September because Matt Cameron, Pearl Jam’s drummer, also plays with Soundgarden (and they are on tour then). Mike McCready, lead guitarist for Pearl Jam, has said the next record would be “way better” than 2009’s Backspacer, which leads to the obvious follow up question: why did Backspacer happen? Whatever the quality of the next record, it will be Pearl Jam’s tenth full length, unless you count the double disc b-side collection Lost Dogs as an album. We’ll have a review of it with our take whenever the opus drops.
