Former Devo Drummer Alan Myers Loses Battle With Cancer

Our hearts are heavy this morning. Today, Under The Gun received news that former Devo drummer Alan Myers has passed away following his battle with cancer.

Ralph Carney, uncle of The Black Keys’ Patrick, shared the sad news on Facebook earlier this morning. He said, “I just got some bad news Alan Myers passed yesterday from cancer. he was Devo’s best drummer and one of the first people to teach me about jazz. i cry……….”

Myers joined the band in 1976 and continued drumming with them for under a decade. He played on their biggest hits including “Jocko Homo,” “Working In The Coal Mine” and the classic “Whip It.”
