Following his poorly-organized and unbelievably shameless attempt at viral marketing by proposing to Nicki Minaj via MTV last week, DJ Khaled has offered some reasoning for his nonsense by revealing a new star-studded single featuring the YMCMB queen herself.

“I Wanna Be With You” is the first release to surface from DJ Khaled’s world of creativity since the platinum-selling “No New Friends” debuted earlier this year. The song features Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, and an over-vocoder’d Future attempting to create romance out of a song clearly meant for strip clubs with a Valentine’s Day theme night. Ross depicts his top bitch, Nicki talks about being the best woman you’ll find, and Future uses the hook to repeatedly say “I wanna be with you” through vocal effects so high you might mistake his vocals for someone drowning.

Khaled rarely disappoints, but “I Wanna Be With You” is the last song I want to be stuck with at the end of the night. The production is top-notch, as always, but every line delivered by all three emcees feels so familiar, not to mentioned phoned in, that you feel like you hear their accountant cashing the appearance check in the background. It’s not about originality, it’s about creating a hit, and this is certainly nothing worth writing home about.
