Jay-Z Releases “Magna Carta” Video Featuring Justin Timberlake

Jay z 2013

The most successful pop duo of the year continued to flaunt their reign atop the charts this afternoon with the release of a new music video.

Taking a far grittier approach to visuals than their “Suit & Tie” days, Jay-Z has released the official video for his Justin Timberlake assisted single, “Magna Carta.” The video opens with Jay-Z rapping to himself while locked in a dilapidated apartment. The windows are boarded, the stack of TVs only offer grainy pictures, and no amount of cash stashed in plastic bags or towers of glasses on tables can seem to ease his clearly weary mind. Timberlake, on the other hand, appears in a much larger setting, with ghost-like dancers entertaining him as he explores what appears to be a forgotten mansion. You can view the video below.

I love “Magna Carta” as much as any track JT and Jay-Z have released, but this video does not do much for me. It’s the kind of thing that plays far more artistic than actually entertaining in my opinion, but it’s definitely unlike anything else on the video market right now. Comment below and let us know your thoughts on the video.

Jay-Z’s new album, Magna Carta Holy Grail, is available now.
