Could A ‘Minecraft’ Movie Be As Great as ‘Lego Movie?’

The Lego Movie hasn’t even been out a month and it’s close to breaking $200 million at the box office. With that said studios are looking to cash in on the next kids’ game Blockbuster. Sorry, Hungry Hungry Hippos, it’s not your time yet. Warner Bros. is looking to stick with the building aspect by focusing on Minecraft.

Like Lego, the world of Minecraft is inspired by the player – only it’s on a digital landscape instead of your bedroom floor. People who doubt it may want to ask those who’ve bought some 35 million copies of the game why it’s so interesting. Possibly because there’s no end to what you can build and what can happen. Plus, unlike Lego, you don’t have to go out and buy a new set every week.

It’s too early to say what the Minecraft movie would even be about, but there have been rumors that it might be live action instead of animated. Hmm, how does one do 8-bit in reality? We’ll have to wait and see how this one develops.
