In all the momentum and excitement surrounding the fantastic new album from Manchester Orchestra, Cope, and their forthcoming tour with Kevin Devine and Balance & Composure, the band takes a quick breather with an acoustic version of the aptly-titled track off of Cope, “Top Notch.”
If you’ve heard the original version, you can expect that it’s quite the departure from the original, but there was no way for it to not be. It’s a beautiful change, adding some piano to the mix, and steering away from the harder, alternative driven album opener. Without hearing the original, one would barely know its an acoustic remake. Check it out after the jump, and if you haven’t listened to Cope yet, what are you doing?
