Field Mouse Sign To Topshelf Records

Topshelf Records have signed a handful of killer acts over the last few months, and their latest addition is no exception. The label has announced that the indie rock outfit known as Field Mouse have signed joined their roster. They have also confirmed that the band will release a brand new album July 22 titled Hold Still Life. You can read the official announcement from the label by checking below the break.

The band has been together since 2010, and their album with Topshelf will be their first release as a full band. Be sure to check in again soon as they will likely be posting some new singles in the near future.

In a strange twist of events — or non-events, I guess you could say — we have never actually met Field Mouse. We have all the same stupid dumb friends and one time I saw Rachel post a tweet about Faraquet so I just know that we’d really all get along great. We feel like we already know them, you know?

So today we are mega excited to announce that we have begun the beginning stages of meeting our new future best friends in Field Mouse. The process is a little unorthodox and involves the releasing of a new album titled Hold Still Life which will be released July 22, 2014. Friendship is all about commitment, you guys, and we’re obviously now pretty super committed over here.

The upcoming LP, co-produced by band members Andrew Futral and Rachel Browne, marks Field Mouse’s first full-length that’s been written and released as a full band. The album was recorded at Seaside Lounge, Brooklyn & Let ’em In, Brooklyn and mixed by Kyle Gilbride (Swearin’, Waxahatchee, Upset).

Upon returning from a tour with Laura Stevenson and the Cans in 2013, the band wasted no time arranging the album. Inspired by burgeoning adulthood, social overload and isolation, life in New York, and the realization that life is going by with a terrifying swiftness (plus a handful of breakup songs to boot), Field Mouse wrote and recorded the new album in late 2013.

If you’re a fan of artists like The Breeders, Sonic Youth, Velocity Girl, My Bloody Valentine, Beach House or Juliana Hatfield, you’re gonna enjoy Field Mouse. Plus, they have a really great cover of the Twin Peaks song so there’s that.

We’ll have more news on the record and upcoming tours soon — for now, please join our friendship efforts and follow the band on twitter, facebook and give them a listen on bandcamp.

Thanks!!
