Go Back To The ‘80s With The ‘Ping Pong Summer’ Trailer

Michael Tully‘s Ping Pong Summer is an appropriately done coming of age film that just so happens to be set in 1985.

The trailer shows it does have its comedic moments–I mean it is about a kid who gets into a ping pong competition and tries to learn breakdancing along the way–but at the same time you can see the heart. It may remind some of 2013’s The Way Way Back being that it too tells the story of a social outcast placed in a beach town for the summer who befriends someone a lot older, and catches the eye of the girl he figured would always be out of reach.

Marcello Conte stars as the lead, Susan Sarandon plays that older friend and the rest of the cast is filled in with the likes of Amy Sedaris and Lea Thompson.

You can catch Ping Pong Summer in theaters June 6, and watch the trailer after the jump.
