Chance The Rapper Surprises Fans With The Release Of “I Am Very Very Lonely”

Chance The Rapper has kept quiet whenever someone has approached him about the release of a new mixtape, but every so often he stops by this crazy thing called the internet and unleashes a little something special just to keep fans, and more importantly other members of hip-hop, on their toes.

Earlier tonight, a new track found its way online titled “I Am Very Very Lonely.” The song finds Chance recounting the thoughts and experiences from a night spent alone, with minimalistic production and signature ‘ah’ samples. I would not go as far as to call it a ballad, but someone else probably will. You can stream the song below:

It’s hard to believe Acid Rap came out only a year ago. It was an instant hit with those watching his rise, but it still took the majority of the music world several months to pay attention. Now it’s a new year and Chance has gone from underground sensation to full blown music superstar. The best part of it all may be that he appears to still be his toughest critic. He constantly pushes himself to try new things, trying whatever he can to build upon what he’s already done without coming across as formulaic or repetitive. “I Am Very Very Lonely” showcases this perfectly by feeling like a continuation of Acid Rap while being decidedly different than anything on the actual album.

I have no idea when Chance will release his next track, but I do hope it’s soon.
