Watch The ‘They Came Together’ Trailer, A New Take On RomComs

Amy Poehler and Paul Rudd star in what is probably the best romantic comedy of 2014 with Wet Hot American Summer’s David Wain at the helm of They Came Together.

It’s not your typical RomCom with the likes of Matthew McConaughey as the lead, well if this was a decade ago…Anyway, this one doesn’t star any of the usual players from those kinds of movies. Instead it pairs Poehler and Rudd as two New Yorkers in a RomCom spoof of sorts. Hey, they already pegged NYC as the setting, and what follows is more typical elements like the gaggle of friends you turn to for obvious advice, costume parties and of course a big blow out that likely resolves itself by the end.

Basically if you were to compare this to other spoof movies: A Haunted House overdoes their parodies, and Easy A was built around way too many references, while They Came Together seems to balance everything out. Plus, the cast of this one is amazing with people like Kenan Thompson, Jack McBrayer and Cobie Smulders.
