Big Boi Announces New Record Deal

With such a busy summer filled with reunion festival performances, it’s hard to believe that either member of OutKast has any time to do anything else. But apparently one half of the hip-hop group has been making moves behind the scenes.

Last night, after a solo show in New York, Big Boi dropped the news that he has signed a new record deal. For anyone hoping for a new OutKast record after the festival tour, take this how you will. New music from either of these two is no disappointment, despite how awesome a new record from the two together would be.

Big Boi sat down with the Huffington Post and talked about the news. “I just signed a deal with Epic Records. So I’m back with L.A. Reid and Sylvia Rhone. Got a brand new situation. I signed the deal the day after the first Coachella date, that Saturday.” He took no time once the tour started to secure himself with work for the immediate future. He also talked about how soon we can expect new material. “The album I’m not gonna rush,” he said. “I wanted to put something out before the end of the year. It depends, because me and Dre got a lot of work to do from now until the end of October. [But] you’re definitely going to get some brand new Big Boi material. Two or three singles before the fall.”

Stay tuned to UTG for future news regarding Big Boi, and hopefully anything regarding the pending OutKast reunion.
