Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros Part with Singer Jade Castrinos

The latest in band drama involves the constantly-touring, folk band known as Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros. The band has parted ways with singer Jade Castrinos, who has been with the band for over seven years. Seems like a fairly substantial loss to the dynamics of the vocal parts.

The reasoning behind the change of roster is still unclear, but a few statements have been caught on different aspects of social media throughout the short time since the news has gone live. Castrinos posted on her Instagram page, suggested that she was unpleasantly surprised by the news. She said “For seven years I sang and wrote music with Edward Sharpe. They voted me off of tour a week before they left, via email. lol.” It’s believed that she was asked to leave the band before they took off for their tour, which they are embarking on, from now until the fall.

The bands frontman, Alex Ebert, has since posted a statement on the band’s Facebook page, and then deleted it. But the rumor states that it said “…out of respect for Jade. we did not feel right doing this tour with Jade. That fact breaks my heart in ways I don’t want to describe.”

So there is clearly some inconsistencies between the story, or too much gray area to really know what happened. Details are sure to come, which UTG will sure to cover in the coming days.
