Conor Oberst Releases “You Are Your Mother’s Child” Video

Now that the nastiness of the rape accusations made towards Bright Eyes’ frontman Conor Oberst have been recanted, it’s time for the thirty-something folk star to continue sharing music from his latest album with fans.

Last week, Oberst broke his short term public silence to share the official music video for his Upside Down Mountain track “You Are Your Mother’s Child.” The Gregory Marinaccio-directed video was filmed on New York’s Fire Island earlier this year, and in typical Oberst form features very little of the iconic musician. Instead, viewers are given an intimate look at the relationships children share with their mothers, and it’s sure to pull on more than a few of your heartstrings. You can view the clip below:

It’s worth noting that Oberst has issued a statement declaring that he has accepted the apology of his rape accuser. Writing to fans and press, Conor stated:

“I have accepted Joanie Faircloth’s apology and retraction to clear my name. This has been extremely difficult and stressful for me personally and for those I love. I’m appreciative of the family, friends, fans and business partners who supported me throughout this and look forward to happier times as we all move forward with our lives.”

Upside Down Mountain is available now wherever music is sold.
