Artery Recordings has announced the signing of California pop-core outfit For The Win. The label will re-release the band’s most recent album, More Than You Know, this fall.

I had never heard of For The Win before a press release announcing their addition to Artery hit my inbox. Before I wrote this story I took fifteen minutes to experience More Than You Know and immediately two things become alarmingly clear: 1. Gang vocals will never die. 2. This band probably promotes itself as a cross between A Day To Remember and The Wonder Years. I’m not saying that is what they sound like to me, but having sifted through countless unsigned band pitches over the years you begin to listen for potential ‘for fans of’ recommendations. The opening to “What You See Is What You Get” reminds me of Hit The Lights in all the right way, but as the record plays on I can’t help feeling like I’ve heard it all before. Still, there is talent here and with the right people around them For The Win could quickly become a hot ticket item within the alternative scene.
