Bad Boys For Life: Martin Lawrence Confirms ‘Bad Boys 3’ Is In Earliest Stages of Development

It’s been 11 years since Michael Bay’s Bad Boys II was released and rumors have been swirling for some time that a third installment would become a reality for the Martin Lawrence / Will Smith action vehicle. For those of us that are huge fans of this particular Bay franchise, Lawrence recently stopped by Conan to confirm that a script is in fact being penned currently. “I just talked to Jerry Bruckheimer yesterday and he said it’s real, they’re working on the script, they’re getting close and it all looks good,” he revealed to O’Brien.

At this point, that’s about all that is known for Bad Boys 3, but as any sort of confirmation, we’ll take it. We can’t imagine Will Smith not signing on for involvement as the project moves forward as he is one half one of the baddest police duos to ever grace the silver screen. Michael Bay’s involvement is unknown as well but we’ll be sure to provide any information as it becomes available, which likely won’t be for some time.

You can watch Lawrence’s interview on Conan below. If you’re pressed for time, skip to the 3:15 mark to see where they begin discussing the possibility of another Bad Boys film.

/Film also points out that back in July, Lawrence posted the following:

According to producer Jerry Bruckheimer, a lot of the delay has simply been due to busy schedules and bad timing:

It’s so funny because we’ll get Sony real excited to make the movie, and then Will [Smith] is off doing two movies. And then, Will will come back and be real excited about it, and Sony will say, ‘Well, maybe it’s not the time for this.’ And then, Ride Along came out and was a big hit, and now they’re all excited to make the movie, but Will is off doing something else. It’s just trying to get everybody together to make it. But, we’re working on the script. We have a lot of faith and hope that we’ll do it.

We just hope another 11 years don’t fly by before we get to see Marcus Burnett and Mike Lowrey kicking ass again on the big screen.
