Still riding high on the resounding critical acclaim for Lost In The Dream – which itself followed up the also quite exuberantly-received Slave Ambient – The War On Drugs have released a video for nine-minute album opener “Under The Pressure.”

Bringing the world the latest and greatest in dreamy, wistful indie (and/or dad) rock, the Philly four have truly established themselves, making even the inclusion of “Kurt Vile’s old band” feel passé. The band opened their hazy indie rock album with a nine-minute track that, upon listening, makes that daring idea seem like common sense. It’s rich and vibrant, enthralling at every tempo, and people who write about music ate it up.

Houmam, who directed this behemoth’s video, does a masterful job of putting the notes to visual form. It looks like the music sounds. The frames of the abandoned house look to have been dipped in a filter that I can only describe as “nostalgia made visual” – perhaps “rustic.” Dreamy visuals of shifting colors and shapes and space dominate the video, only enhancing the idea of the song made flesh.
