UPDATE: Former Stone Temple Pilots Frontman Not Arrested After All

UPDATE: Scott Weiland released a video of him in the studio confirming that he is in fact NOT in jail. TMZ reached back out to the sheriff’s office in LA to find out who they had arrested and apparently the person is some sort of impostor. I’m not even kidding. The arrest record has Weiland’s name and birthdate on it. The police department was under the impression they had Mr. Weiland in custody. Sounds like a major mis-identification if you ask me.

According to a report by TMZ, former Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland has been in jail for the last four weeks for felony drug possession and burglary.

Weiland was stopped by police and when he was searched they found methamphetamine. He was also caught with an insulated bag which can prevent anti-theft sensors from going off. (Apparently that’s enough to get you charged with burglary?)

The musician has a history of substance abuse, which traces back to his teenage years. He’s been arrested a handful of times for buying drugs as well as drinking and driving.

His bail is currently set at $95,000.
