Last night, the 66th annual Emmy Awards were broadcast worldwide. There were many great moments, including when Bryan Cranston kissed Julia Louis-Dreyfus in such a way that put every great real relationship to shame. There were also awards, but that is not what we are here to discuss.
In the middle of the show, the awards were put on hold so that musical guest “Weird Al” Yankovic could share a brand new, never before heard medley of TV theme songs that took the audience – as well as viewers at home – by complete surprise. Yankovic has always had a knack for twisting popular songs from the radio into hilarious comedic fodder, but you already knew that. Here he applies that same gift to the world of instrumental TV intros, adding lyrics where none originally existed, and the results are fantastic.
