Ice Nine Kills Release Acoustic Stream For “Jonathan”

Earlier this year Ice Nine Kills released a new album titled The Predator Becomes The Prey. One of the tracks off the album is a song titled “Jonathan.” This particular track holds a special place in the hearts of the band members, as a friend of theirs (named Jonathan) is suffering from a rare mitochondrial disorder that is slowly stealing away his sight, hearing, memory and motor skills. The band has decided to record an acoustic version of this song, and it features a brief interview with Jonathan, as well as some additional details on his condition. You can listen to the song below the jump.

‘Jonathan’ is probably the most important song this band has ever created. It’s written from the perspective of my good friend Jonathan, whose sight is being slowly stolen from him by a terrible disease called mitochondrial disorder. We hope his story of unrelenting strength in the face of progressive blindness becomes an inspiring anthem for him and everyone out there who faces life-altering challenges.

When you purchase the acoustic version of “Jonathan” on iTunes a portion of the proceeds will be donated to research to find a cure.
