It’s a known fact that Morrissey has been quite ill as of late. He’s been forced to cancel tour dates in the recent past due to illness, though he never specified what. In a new interview with El Mundo, the former Smiths frontman revealed that he has been receiving cancer treatment. For those of you who cannot read Spanish, here’s a snippet of his conversation with them.

El Mundo:” …have been hospitalized and had to cancel several concerts. How are you feeling?”

Morrissey: “They have scraped cancerous tissues from me four times already, but who cares. If I die, then I die. And if not, then I don’t. Right now I feel good. I am aware that in recent photos I look unwell, but that is what illness does. I’m not going to worry about that, I’ll rest when I’m dead.”

We are sad to hear about his cancer diagnosis, but it seems that he is doing well and at the very least is not being negative about it. We’re hoping for the best and wish him well.

He also confirmed that he is planning on publishing his first novel sometime next year. More details on that will likely be released in the upcoming months.
