Soundgarden Surprise Fans With New Single “Storm”

Soundgarden may be the old guys in the world of modern rock, but that isn’t stopping one of the most influential bands of the last two decades from keeping fans on their toes.

Last night, without warning, the men of Soundgarden surprised critics and fans worldwide with the unannounced release of a new track titled “Storm.” The post-grunge effort feels lifted from the back half of Superunkown, with a laid back groove that listeners can ride from beginning to end. I don’t think it will capture the attention of the masses as much as some of the band’s previous efforts, but longtime supporters are sure to welcome this throwback effort into their new work week. You can stream the track below:

Two years have passed since Soundgarden last released new material, so it seems safe to assume the debut of “Storm” is only the beginning of what will soon become a new promotional push from the aging rock outfit. The band has been teasing the potential for a b-side compilation, so this premiere may be part of that effort. We’ll bring you more info on the song, its purpose, and where Soundgarden are headed next as soon as more details begin to surface. Follow UTG on Twitter for updates.
