New Years Day Share Crazy Video For “Defame Me”

There are plenty of up-and-coming bands who grab headlines from time to time, but never find the talent or showmanship needed to rise to the next level of popularity. New Years Day have been a band on the verge of achieving great things for several years at this point, and with the release of their latest single they may have finally come into their own.

Set largely in a decrepit building, with a number of scenes dressed to reflect nightmarish visions of mental health facilities, the latest video from New Years Day hits hard and heavy in every way imaginable. The song, “Defame Me,” is the first track to receive a proper promotional push off the band’s recently released Epidemic EP, and in my opinion it may be the group’s best song to date. It’s a fun and frantic ode to love on the rocks and the feeling of being unable to get someone off your mind. There’s talk of the feelings that come with separation, as well as the childish things people will do to get back at the other. It’s powerful and relatable material delivered in the most anthemic way possible. Check it out:

New Years Day’s Epidemic EP hit stores earlier this month, so make it a point to grab a copy off iTunes and show your support. The band typically tours 11 or 12 months out of the year, so keep an eye out for the next time they visit a city near you.
