When David Cross isn’t busy making special appearances on IFC’s Maron as a marijuana inspired family counselor, apparently he’s been out directing his first film.

Hits stars Michael Cera, Wyatt Cenac, David Koechner, Jason Ritter, and more, and claims to be “based on a true story…that hasn’t happened yet.”

An official selection for the Sundance Film Festival, the film follows the story of a small-town cigarette wielding blonde from Upstate New York who aspires to make it big through viral fame. The only problem is, her father unknowingly beats her to it.

Check below the jump and let us know what you think about the trailer. Will Hits be a hit? Sorry. I know, that was lame.
