ALL HOPE IS LOST: ‘Unfriended’ Is Getting A Sequel

Don’t say we never tried to warn you.

According to our pals at Bloody-Disgusting, Universal Pictures has already begun work on a sequel to the recently-released horror film Unfriended. In fact, the site claims that the as-of-yet untitled sequel is already being scripted by Nelson Greaves, who wrote the first film that was produced by Timur Bekmambetov. No release date has been set, but I don’t think a summer or fall 2016 release is out of the question.

Unfriended opened in the middle of April and has since accumulated $25 million at the US box office. That may be a small amount for some films, but when you consider that this feature was allegedly made for under one-million dollars then you can begin to understand why Universal would want more to be made as soon as possible. Films like this don’t have to be good, they just have to earn more than they cost to make, and in this case that feat was an incredibly easy one to accomplish.

I’m sensing you didn’t like the film “Unfriended”(2015)? You clearly stated in bold letters “ALL HOPE IS LOST”. C’mon now, lots of films have the great possibility of getting a sequel, or even a prequel. It’s great to hear the news on a sequel to a skype horror film. :) It could be the next revolution in horror! I haven’t been this excited since the news for more sequels on ‘Sharknado’ and “The Avengers” and “Sinister”.

I’m seeing the film on May 1 by the way.
