Jamie XX & Young Thug Drop “I Know There’s Gonna Be (Good Times)”

On the long list of potential Young Thug collaborators maintained by music bloggers around the globe, I would wager less than 5% ever thought to include producer/DJ Jamie XX. The two artists are amongst the most talked about creative minds today, but given the undeniable differences in their signature sounds it is easy to understand why no one ever thought to put them together.

No one, that is, except for each other.

Today, Jamie XX shared a new song with the world titled “I Know There’s Gonna Be (Good Times)” that it’s more or less led by Atlanta native Young Thug. The song has all the bright and positive dance elements fans of XX have come to expect, as well as the mind-melting and language-twisting skills of Thugga Thugga. It’s an explosive combination that could very well set the tone for even more interesting collaborations in the future, as the track works in such a way that it makes you care about each artist and their individual contribution to the material. You can stream the song below.

“I Know There’s Gonna Be (Good Times)” is one of many tracks that will appear on Jamie XX’s upcoming debut album, In Colour, which is currently slated for release on June 2. Click here to pre-order the record on iTunes.
