Stream Holychild’s New Album and Succumb to the Power of Brat Pop

Los Angeles duo Holychild are set to release their debut full-length tomorrow, June 2, through Glassnote. Following sporadic single releases over the past couple of years and 2014’s Mindspeak EP, these two have been building up to something big, and that something is finally upon us: The Shape Of Brat Pop To Come.

This album calls for side ponytails and some serious gum smacking. It oozes brattitude (someone else has probably already coined that.) Frankly, I feel like this album is one I’d typically swear off, but I’m addicted. I can’t escape the huge synths, the massive beats, and Liz Nistico’s feisty vocal delivery. It’s essentially energetic, sugary pop at its core but there’s a lot more going on here. It’s smart and rebellious and intricate and wildly infectious. Nearly every song on the album will keep the party going and sometimes that alone is enough.
