The Matches Are Back And Better Than Your Favorite Band

Six years have passed since The Matches blessed us with new music, but when the band officially reunited earlier this year fans knew it was only a matter of time until the group returned to the studio. I’m happy to say, the wait is finally over.

Earlier today, September 30, The Matches partnered with our good friends at Substream to share the world premiere of a new song titled “Life Of A Match.” The track is a big and boisterous return to form for the group, bringing to mind the material found on A Band In Hope. You can stream the song below.

Speaking to Substream about their latest material, Matches Frontman Shawn Harris commented:

“None of us really planned on writing new Matches music, but after the shows, we were hit with inspiration and creativity. While we were living in different places around the U.S. and working on other things, we managed to work remotely on a batch of songs, but zeroed in on two. We wanted them to be great and something you guys would love.”

“Life Of A Match” is one half of a new 7-inch The Matches will be releasing later this week. The first wave of vinyl pre-orders have already sold out, but a new listing for a second pressing is now available from the band’s official store. The digital version of the material will hit iTunes and other digital retailers tomorrow, October 1.
