2016 is already shaping up well for New Jersey alternative four-piece Halogens. Late in 2015, the band announced that they would be putting out some new material right after ringing in the new year.

Earlier in November they premiered the very upbeat, Front Bottoms-esque “Ayúdame!” on AbsolutePunk, and one of our personal favorites, “Run Around,” on 36vultures. Both tracks, much like the rest of the EP, boast a contrast of high-energy hooks and an almost-tangible sense of emotion. Halogens is undoubtedly a beautiful evolution for the band’s sound since their release of I’m Gonna Miss Me When You’re Gone in 2013.

The sweet, five-track effort—produced by Adam Cichocki (Gatherers)—will be a self-titled EP, and is scheduled for a January 9 digital and physical release via Why Bother Records, with its first cassette pressing limited to 25 copies.

Additionally, if you happen to find yourself within the tri-state area on January 9, the band is having a release show for the new EP at The Den in Westfield, NJ. More details are available here.

You can now stream Halogens in its entirety below. Let us know what you think!
