Yesterday Kanye West took a shot at Walmart, tweeting in reference to his banned album art, “I really don’t be thinking about Wal-Mart when I make my music or album covers.” While the cover for the rapper’s upcoming record, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, has caused quite a stir, Walmart says they never actually banned it.
A spokesperson from Walmart released a statement regarding the art, saying they’d never even seen the cover art until now. “We’re excited about Kanye West’s new album and we look forward to carrying it in our stores on November 22nd,” the statement said. “As always, it’s our standard practice to carry the edited parental advisory version. We did not reject the cover artwork and it was never presented to us to view.”
