Though it has only been out for a day, early estimates for Watch The Throne‘s sales are already coming in and 400,000-500,000 copies domestic (USA) seems to be the highest figure we’ve found.

Considering the state of the music industry as well as the state of the world currently, you’d think we’d be excited to read any album was going to go gold, but not this time. Watch The Throne, the collaborative effort from industry heavyweight Jay-Z and Kanye West, has been the most talk about album around for longer than we can remember and it all ads up to LESS THAN HALF of what Gaga sold in a week?

Okay, so Gaga cheated and had the $1 album sale and placement in literally every store that would take her, but this is JAY-FREAKING-Z and Kanye West, two of the biggest artists of all time and you’re telling me they only have a CHANCE of going gold this week?

Maybe the hype killed the actually record, or maybe it was the continuous delays and protests from indie retailers, but something is definitely flawed in this record’s release.
