Amy Winehouse may be dead, but her career lives on the December the release of her first (and hopefully only) posthumous album, Lioness: Hidden Treasures. Today we have the debut of the first single and so far, we’re sold.
“Like Smoke” brings together the late modern jazz heroine and rapper Nas for a track that demands your attention. The music is subtle, typical for Winehouse’s catalog, but it’s the blend of her voice and Nas’ flow that will have you hitting repeat again and again. You can stream, download, and enjoy the song for yourself after the jump.
We all knew there would be more Winehouse material after she died, the real question is how much and how long they’ll drag out the releases. Will Lioness be a one-off, or will it go on to become the first in an entry of Tupac-like releasing that pair half-finished songs with actually relevant artists? We’re hoping for the former, but it’s still too soon to tell.
Lioness arrives December 5.
