“Captain America 2” Arrives in 2014, (Some) Plot Details Revealed

Disney and Marvel have announced plans to release a sequel to Captain America: The First Avenger sometime in 2014.

The announce of a Captain America sequel comes just weeks before Marvel’s latest epic, The Avengers, is scheduled to arrive in theaters. According to the plot details hinted at in the official press release, which can be read below, that is not “just a coincidence”:

The Walt Disney Studios has announced a release date for Marvel Studios’ sequel to the blockbuster Captain America: The First Avenger on April 4, 2014. The second installment will pick-up where the highly anticipated Marvel’s The Avengers (May 4, 2012) leaves off, as Steve Rogers continues his affiliation with Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D and struggles to embrace his role in the modern world.

Now that is one hell of a vague description, but it does let us know where Marvel plans to take the franchise in the future. There has been talk of using flashbacks to the 1940s as a way helping thicken Cap’s history and story, but we will probably have to wait until at least 2013 to know if that is still the case.

There will probably be multiple Marvel-related announcements in the coming weeks, assuming they plan to continue all The Avengers’ storylines in the future, so stay tuned to UTG for more in the coming weeks!
