Motion City Soundtrack Premiere New Song

Motion City Soundtrack have released a brand new song titled “Major Leagues” featured on the band’s 7-inch installment of the Making Moves series. For those unfamiliar with the Making Moves project, the band partnered with Drexel’s Mad Dragon Records, which features a handful of student engineers, to release new material from up and coming artists chosen by the band, as well as their own release.

The Making Moves series will be officially released on November 6 but you can head over to Rolling Stone to give the new song a listen. Check out a statement from Justin Pierre on how the new song came together as well as wrapping the band’s new project.

Major Leagues’ was an idea that our guitarist Josh [Cain] brought to the band and I rewrote the chorus a few times as it was not as uplifting as the music. I hid in a dark room down the hall from Drexel’s Studio A and came up with the new chorus, but then had to figure out how to make the verses work. Luckily I only had to change a few things in order to make that happen. The song has something to do with setting goals, attaining set goals, moments of confusion, and what happens next.

All in all, the experience of curating this Making Moves project with Drexel’s Mad Dragon Records was amazing. We got to work with a lot of talented individuals – from all the bands that recorded seven-inches to all the Drexel students that managed the releases. It was definitely an epic undertaking, but we are very excited about the outcome of our endeavor.
