Bayside Stream First Song Off Covers Album

Our good friends at Absolutepunk.net are premiering the first song off of Bayside’s upcoming album, Covers Volume 1. You can check out “Be My Baby,” here. For those who do not know, the song was originally made popular by the 60’s girl pop band, The Ronettes.

The Covers Volume 1 EP is set to be released on October 23, via Bayside’s own Gumshoe Records. The band is offering several different pre-order bundles here.

Anthony Raneri (vocals) had the following to say about the song’s impact on him:

Be My Baby’ was one of the first songs I ever heard in my life. My apartment growing up was always filled with music and all the old Phil Spector stuff was on constant rotation. I guess you can say that they’re one of the groups that set me off on this journey I’ve been on my whole life that has led me here. When we were thinking of songs to include on this record, ‘Be My Baby’ struck me immediately as a song that The Ramones could have written. So this was one of the easier ones to work out for us. We just figured we’d speed it up and do it like The Ramones would have.
