The National Perform “Sea Of Love” On Fallon

Indie favorites, The National, took to Jimmy Fallon’s stage last night for the national television debut of their new song, “Sea Of Love.”

Taken from the group’s forthcoming album, “Sea Of Love” is one of the more aggressive tracks we’ve heard from The National. Pounding drums lead into the song with vocalist Matt Berninger’s lower register voice murmuring along under a wave of guitar fuzz and light synth. Then, just when you think things are really taking off, almost everything drops out and Matt Berninger is left with a bass drum and the line from which the album takes its name. It’s a brave move amidst and otherwise radio-ready song, and it works flawlessly. You can stream the performance below.

Trouble Will Find Me hits stores May 20.
