Maps & Atlases Release “Old Ash” Video

Sometimes you need to take a break from the day and escape momentarily into the safe embrace of music. When that urge hits you today, find this post and all your worries will slowly wash away.

Indie favorites Maps & Atlases have released the official music video for their latest single, “Old Ash.” The group, known for their original approach to visuals, have offered one of the most straightforward, yet odd, clips we have seen in awhile. Viewers watch as vocalist/guitarist Dave Davison approaches the camera, picks up scissors, and begins lip syncing the lyrics while trimming his Godly beard. That’s it. No cuts, except for the hair, and no added performance sequences or additional storytelling. As Davison had been growing out his beard for years, you can imagine how big of a step this was for him, especially if you’ve ever fully committed to growing out some gnarly whiskerandoes only to eventually have to rid your face of all its glory. You can view the clip below.

Even if watching someone take care of their personal hygiene is not up your alley, you owe it to your ears and soul to experience “Old Ash.” Maps & Atlases are one of the best bands working today, and this song is one of many people need to hear.
