Universal and Red Granite Save ‘Dumb & Dumber 2,’ Production Begins This Summer

Just a week after news broke that seemed to indicate Dumb & Dumber 2 was going to be proclaimed dead once and for all, new information has emerged giving the long-gestating sequel yet another chance at life.

According to a new article from The Hollywood Reporter, Universal and Red Granite have acquired Dumb & Dumber 2 with plans to begin production in the coming weeks. The Twitter handle for Bobby and Peter Farrelly, the duo who directed the original and are helming the sequel, posted “It’s official: Dumber and Dumber To is going to production with @RedGranitePics and @UniversalPics!!!”

Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels are both set to reprise their roles as the absent minded duo of Harry and Lloyd. Unfortunately, no additional plot information has been made available at this time.

This twist is only the latest in a journey to production that has lasted far longer than anyone watching the project would have guessed. Many scripts deserving of being made fade to black without anyone noticing, but there is something about Dumb & Dumber 2 studios cannot walk away from. Here’s hoping the final product is better than Dumb & Dumberer.
