CHVRCHES Share New Versions of “The Mother We Share,” “Recover,” and “Gun”

The problem with being one of the most buzzed about bands of 2013 is that no one that controls you from a label standpoint is going to want you to rush into the studio at the start of 2014. You’re too hot to be off the road, and touring is where you generate the majority of your income – so you tour and tour until you can tour no more. While this is happening, however, the fans you made with that ‘breakout’ release last year are growing impatient with your efforts regarding new material.

So, what is a buzzworthy act to do in times like these? Simple. Release the same album again, only this time with some extra tracks and variant artwork. It’s a marketing trick that has worked for years and many groups are hoping it continues that streak in 2014, including CHVRCHES.

Today, CHVRCHES have partnered with MTV to stream new versions of the songs “The Mother We Share,” “Recover,” and “Gun.” The songs, whose original cuts first appeared on the group’s 2013 debut album, will be released on April 22 as part of the deluxe edition for The Bones of What You Believe. You can stream the alternate takes below.
