First Pictures From ‘Lost River,’ Ryan Gosling’s Directorial Debut

Movie buffs will be interested to see the first stills from Ryan Gosling’s Lost River. So what’s this actor got up his sleeves as a director?

While they don’t really tell you much, you can see that the movie does have that dark fantasy element to it. As for what Lost River is about, it’s set in a surreal world of a vanishing city, there’s an underwater town and a lot of mystery. Leading the cast is Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks who plays a single mother of two who’s taken to an underworld. She stars alongside Gosling’s real life girlfriend Eva Mendes, Dr. Who‘s Matt Smith and the horror icon Barbara Steele.

It’s causing some buzz among the Cannes Film Festival crowd, but no word on when we’ll see it in theaters just yet. For now you can check out the first images from Lost River after the jump.
