Is Mineral Up To Something?

This is the news post I’ve wanted to write more than anything else this year. If a new website and social media accounts are to be believed, it looks like things are happening with long-defunct emo act Mineral.

The Twitter and Facebook pages have yet to be updated, but the Instagram page features a few shots of instruments and amps that might look familiar to anyone who has spent a lazy afternoon watching Mineral sets on YouTube. While it’s no confirmation, we can only hope that this means a reunion is in the works. It would certainly be the perfect time, since this week has already seen the announcement of two American Football reunion shows and the first new Sunny Day Real Estate song in over a decade.

In their all-too-short initial run, Mineral released two albums, The Power of Failing and EndSerenading, both of which are emo classics and essential listening for all fans of the genre. Give those a spin today, and stay tuned for more Mineral news as it surfaces.
