Spider-Man Dominates Weekend Box Office

As is to be expected with a tentpole release, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has all but dominated the box office in its opening weekend. Preliminary estimates indicate the film has taken in $92 million since it opened in the U.S., taking its total worldwide gross thus far to a not-unimpressive $369 million.

Spidey’s success has dethroned Cameron Diaz vehicle The Other Woman, which itself had deposed Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier after the latter spent more than three weeks at the top of the box office. It’s since fallen to fourth in the rankings, hauling in another $7.7 million since Friday.

The top five is rounded out by Heaven is for Real and Rio 2, which earned $8.7 million and $7.6 million respectively. Follow the jump for a full rundown of the weekend’s take.
