Required Listening: Moby – “Rio” (Duran Duran Cover)

This June, Manimal Vinyl will be releasing a Duran Duran tribute album titled Making Patterns Rhyme. We’re excited for it, and with a track list that includes Little Dragon, Warpaint, Austra, Crocodiles, Juliette Lewis and Moby it’s probably not hard to understand why. Today, one of those featured artists shared their cover, and we could not be more thrilled to share it with all of you.

Moby is not known for being a vocalist or lyricist, but for the better part of three decades he has crafted some of the most hypnotic, fascinating, and downright gorgeous musical creations to ever be brought to life. His version of “Rio,” which is arguably Duran Duran’s biggest hit, continues this trend with a lush and complex take on the pop hit that includes female vocals that are as haunting as they are beautiful. You can stream the song, in full, below:

Making Patterns Rhyme will be released on June 3. Click here for more information.
